You may have heard a buzz recently about bee pollen - we definitely have! But what is it and why could it be good for you?
The bee pollen that you see in our stores (and on our site!) comes from the pollen that collects on the bodies of worker honeybees during the pollination process. Sometimes called bee bread or ambrosia it is used by bees as the main food source for the hive. It is very nutritious, containing a number of essential nutrients including protein, fibre, iron and zinc .
It has a sweet, slightly nutty taste, which makes it a delicious addition to a number of dishes and easy to add to your diet. Why not try one of these suggestions?
1. Add to a breakfast bowl
Sprinkle on cereal, muesli, porridge or yoghurt with a handful of fresh fruit
2. Blend into a smoothie or protein shakes
Smoothies and protein shakes are a great way of adding superfoods to your diet. Just add 1-2 teaspoons to your usual daily blend.
3. Sprinkle on salads
Add 1-2 teaspoons as a salad topping, along with tasty seeds and pine nuts.
