What type of Rosacea do I have? With Finca Skin Organics

1 in 10 people suffer for rosacea and did you know there are different types too? Understanding which one you have will help you be able to treat it effectively. Finola - the Founder of Finca Skin Organics and a fellow rosacea-sufferer - has put together this guide to help you identify your rosacea subtype.

Subtype 1 - ETR rosacea (Erythematotelangiectatic Rosacea)

Flushed face, especially across the nose and cheeks. Sometimes visible blood vessels under the surface of the skin (telangiectasia). Your face may feel tight and irritated continuously and especially after showering.

Symptoms:

  • Easily irritated or sensitive facial skin
  • Flushing and blushing easily
  • Appearance of small, widened or broken blood vessels on the skin
  • Skin may feel tight, especially after showers
  • Persistent redness in the central areas of the face
  • Stinging or burning sensation on the skin
  • Dry, rough, flaky, or scaly skin

Subtype 2 - Acne rosacea (Papulopustular rosacea)

Persistent redness of the face, along with acne-like breakouts. In contrast to acne, there are no blackheads. You may also notice burning and stinging.

Symptoms:

  • Papules and pustules (spots and pimples)
  • Temporary or persistent redness primarily on the central areas of the face
  • Burning/stinging sensation
  • Visible broken blood vessels (spider veins aka telangiectasia)
  • Raised, scaly red patches on the skin
  • Oily skin
  • Sensitive skin
  • Skin may burn and sting

Combination of subtype 1 & 2

Usually subtype 2 on central area of the face & subtype 1 elsewhere.
