If you're looking to get your morning off to a great start, there are some simple things you can do to boost your energy and set you up for a productive day. We're all for morning rituals here in Evergreen - like the old adage says 'Tus maith leath na hoibre' or 'A good start is half the work'. Here are some of our favourite morning rituals to kickstart your day.
Morning Rituals to Kickstart Your Day
Looking to get your day off to a great start? Here are some of the best rituals to work in to your morning routine.
Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate!
Your body has been fasting overnight and the best way to flush out all of yesterday’s toxins and waste is to drink water first thing in the morning. This can have a direct impact on your bowl transit and hopefully will encourage a bowl movement first thing in the morning. Starting your day with a clean slate is a great way to say goodbye to yesterday and hello today. Aim for approx. 500mls of room temperature water.
Wake your Digestive System Up
Drinking some warm water or warm water with lemon or indeed if you're able for it, warm water with apple cider vinegar is a great way to gently wake your body up in the morning.
The warm water is soothing on the digestive tract and is like giving your insides a warm wake-up hug, while the bitter of the lemon or the apple cider vinegar is a great way to stimulate the digestive juices and prepare our digestive tract for the food that is to follow.
Work in Some Exercise
Exercise first thing in the morning is a great way to wake up your body, clear your mind, get oxygen flowing around your body and prepare yourself for the day ahead.
Alternate between gentle yoga or a stretching routine, a HIIT (high intensity interval training) session or a brisk walk in the fresh air. You should always modify any workout to your own abilities, and search until you find one that resonates with you.
Breakfast Like a King
Having a healthy and filling breakfast not only prepares us for the day ahead of us but has a direct effect on our food choices for the rest of day. Incorporating plenty of fiber, good fats and protein in your breakfast is key to keeping us full, stabilising our energy levels throughout the day and effectively fueling our metabolism.
