Introduce yourself
From the heart of The Wild Atlantic Way, Galway duo, Anne Marie & Eimear, capture the essence of the Irish ģra for wit and warmth in their beautiful, handcrafted candles. Launched in 2020, research and passion brought to life their vision of creating unique scents with natural and gentle ingredients: offering hand-poured candles of natural wax, eco-friendly wood wicks, complete with hand designed labels.
What inspired you to join the natural health sector?
Our candles are made from a plant based natural wax. This wax is 100% vegan, bio-degradable and more sustainable than both Soy and Paraffin (which are predominantly used in other candles).
Also, the therapeutic nature of burning candles can be so relaxing and help relieve the stresses of our often-busy modern day lives.
Where did you get the idea for your brand?
We always felt that there was a gap in the market to create candles that are sustainable, have unique and unisex scents, and have great sentiments.
This was then combined with the fact that all our candles are hand poured in small batches, in our studio in Co Galway right in the heart of the Wild Atlantic Way.
What makes your brand unique?
We like to think that our candles have a unique combination of what we call the ‘Five Ss’:
- Sight – great looking candles.
- Scent – stunning aromas.
- Sound – a beautiful crackle when the wooden wick burns.
- Sentiment – labels, from our Irish Language to our ‘quirky’ range, allow our customers to purchase a gift with real meaning, either for a loved one or for themselves.
- Sustainable – all our candles use natural wax and glass which can be recycled or upcycled
What are your company’s core values?
We are proud say that all our candles are handmade, and hand poured in Galway. We are always striving to make our business as sustainable as possible.
How do you support your community?
We are proud to be part of the Irish Design Craft Council ‘Made Local Campaign’. This is an initiative to encourage shops and customers to purchase products that are ‘Made Local’.
We also like to give back to our local community by sponsoring events for our local soccer and Camogie clubs.
This year, we will also be helping students on the Transition Year programme. They will learn about every aspect of the business and how SME’s run on a daily basis.
What has been the most rewarding part of your brands journey?
We are very proud of the fact that we have grown organically. The most rewarding part has been the feedback we have received from our customers. We have been blown away with the lovely customer comments, such as “these are the best candles I have ever bought”, to press reviews and even celebrity endorsements. It’s so rewarding to be able to make a luxury and unique product using sustainable materials.
What in your opinion makes Irish brands unique?
Irish brands are some of the best and most recognised in the world.
There is so much support for Irish brands through organisations such as Enterprise Ireland, the DCCI and the Local Enterprise offices. Customers and shops always prefer to ‘Buy Irish’, and this encourages brands to develop further.
What is your favourite product from your brand?
We love all of our candles – they are all unique and special in their own way!
But, if we have to choose one, then perhaps our ‘Baile - Home’ candle in Turf & Embers. Its message is beautiful, and it smells great!
Tell us about something that has shaped your brand?
Our organic growth coupled with customer feedback has allowed us to shape our brand and product range. We always listen to our customers and have created new products from the feedback that we have received.
What do you hope to accomplish in the future?
We would like to expand the brand further with a focus on increasing our sustainability.
