Introduce yourself.
Our company is Oriel Marine Extracts. We harvest deep sea water from pristine EU protected waters off the coast of Ireland in Port Oriel, Clogherhead, Co. Louth and extract pure liquid magnesium and minerals with 78+ trace elements, used across the globe in supplements, skincare, health care, nutraceuticals and drinks sectors.
What inspired you to join the natural health sector?
In June 2022, we were contacted by a health store after our participation in Bloom. This began a journey to launch a new range of Liquid Magnesium Minerals and Trace Elements to Health Stores nationally. The first part of our journey was to meet as many Health Stores as possible and to include listen to and understand their opinions as we developed our range of products from a design, marketing and visual perspective. We launched our Oriel range in Sept 2022 and in June 2023, we reached our first goal of 100 health stores nationwide.
Where did you get the idea for your brand?
The idea for the brand was conceived by the two founding Directors, Brian and John. We are located in Port Oriel, Clogherhead, the Point of impact of a tectonic collision of the continents of Americas and Eurasia 400 Million Years Ago. We have pumps bolted to bedrock out in the ocean and this is where we harvest our products in a sustainable and organic certified manner. This is where Oriel was born.

Without doubt, seeing the positive impact our products have had on people’s health has been very rewarding and inspiring. We have had some remarkable results from our research and this has been reflected in the positive feedback we regularly receive.
What in your opinion makes Irish brands unique?
Irish producers and their brands have excelled not only at home, but across the world through their reputation for excellence in quality, standards and ingenuity. As an Irish company, the Oriel brand meets the highest standards expected across the globe from our source of EU protected waters (PDO), Gold Standard Sustainability, Organic and Kosher to our Global GFSI FSSC ISO 22002-1, we are hoping to follow in the tradition of other unique and wonderful Irish brands.
What is your favourite product from your brand?
Although I love the Sport drops, it has to be our Gels. The Skin and Sports gels are the unsung heroes of the Oriel range. From preventing muscle cramps and burn post workout, agitated legs, joint ache to various skin conditions, these fast acting gels are so nice and easy to apply, smooth and soothing on the skin, I just love them.
Tell us about something that has shaped your brand?
Definitely the support and collaborative partnerships we have formed within the global cosmetic and skincare market. We introduced our liquid magnesium to cosmetic and skincare producers almost eight years ago and now supply many world leading brands. Our Gels evolved through these learnings and later in 2023 we will launch our own 100% natural Hyaluronic acid and magnesium oil transdermal spray.
What do you hope to accomplish in the future?
To continue working closely with Irish Health Stores and further develop the Oriel Magnesium brand and range to meet the needs of the Irish consumer. We have some great ideas that we hope to share.
