Welcome to Fox Covert Farm! We are the Bracken Family and we have been caring for the land and producing crops on our farm in the heart of Ireland for five generations.
As sustainable hemp seed farmers, our hemp crops are grown in a 100% natural, pesticide, fungicide and herbicide free environment. Our commitment to producing healthy, natural Superfood led us to Hemp Seeds, and after extensive research, we decided to cultivate this “miracle plant” on our farm. We are proud to bring our incredibly nutritious Hemp Seed Products, Hemp Hearts, and Milled Hemp direct from our farm to your fork!
As a fifth-generation farming family, we also have a strong interest in sustainable farming and environmental protection. Hemp Plants are known as “Nature’s Purifier” due to their ability to sequester C02 and purify air – up to four times more efficiently than trees! Our Hemp Seed crops are sustainably grown in a 100% natural, pesticide, fungicide, and herbicide free environment – and are good for the planet as well as good for you!
What inspired you to join the natural health sector?
To us it really mattered that we are in a position to grow Hemp on our farm and our passion is to grow and produce high quality nutritious superfoods sustainably to boost the health and wellbeing of our clients while making a positive impact on the planet and our communities.
Where did you get the idea for your brand?
All of this started with the field behind our home called Fox Covert. It inspired the name of the business, and it is intrinsically linked to all that we do. From growing hemp in this field, we realised the high-quality nutritious products that we could supply to customers in our locality and beyond.
What makes your brand unique?
It’s probably our commitment to bringing our customers Hemp products grown in Ireland with this amazing taste and flavour of this versatile and nutritious seed. Direct from our farm to your fork.
What are your company’s core values?
Health and wellbeing are our core values. We pride ourselves on producing high quality nutritious Superfoods sustainably. Our Hemp crops are grown 100% natural, no pesticide, fungicide, or herbicides are used.
How do you support your community?
Our family decision to grow Hemp was born from our interest in building long term sustainability into the future of the farm. Our growing awareness of health and nutritional needs led us to discovering the value of Hemp Seeds, a Superfood which can be added to any meal to boost nutrition and build immunity.
This miracle plant benefits the health of both people and the land while reducing the overall carbon footprint of the farm. Hemp Plants sequester C02 while they are growing and as “Nature’s Purifier” they purify air between 2 – 4 times more efficiently than trees. Not only are we producing locally but we are protecting our local environment for future generation.
What has been the most rewarding part of your brands journey?
We are delighted to be part of the journey to reintroducing growing of hemp on farms in Ireland. Hemp is a multifaceted crop delivering seeds, fibre, shivs, leaves, roots, and flowers. The crop can replace synthetic plastics and fibres with natural biodegradable forms. Hemp plants can provide raw materials for several end-users, not just nutritional food. Fibre is used for paper pulp, insulation and building material and a composite material in the automotive industry. The shivs, the woody inner core of the stem, are used for animal bedding and construction. For us the most rewarding part has been the holistic benefits that this journey has resulted in.
What in your opinion makes Irish brands unique?
Ireland has a heritage and prominence for producing really high-quality foods grown with passion and skill. We are proud to continue this tradition by bringing Superfood products bursting with nutrition and freshness to the Irish Market direct from farm to fork.
What is your favourite product from your brand?
It is very difficult to pick a favourite product, really it depends on what benefits you’re looking for, for example if you are seeking higher protein and Omega’s – Hemp Hearts have 32g/100g of Protein, Omega 3 Fatty Acids 8.5g/100g, Omega 6 Fatty Acids 28g/100g. While if you’re seeking Vitamin B12 - Milled Hemp is high in this essential and has a considerable higher quantity of Fibre at 42g/100g. Our personal experience, and feedback from our customers Hemp Hearts are delicious to eat out of your hand, add to porridge, cereals, yogurts, smoothies, salads, desserts, baking etc. and Milled Hemp while it can be added to any meal is great in soups, stews, curries, pasta, stir fry's, baking etc. Both products are High in Magnesium, Iron, Zinc, Copper, Fibre, Omega 3 & 6 and source of Potassium also.
Tell us about something that has shaped your brand?
When we first started to truly understand the benefits of hemp, we got very excited. The discovery of the nutritional benefits of hemp products, hemp hearts and milled hemp, a superfood so easily to add to your diet, just add to any meal to boost nutrition and build immunity. What do you hope to accomplish in the future?
We are very excited for the future as a relatively new brand, we are bursting with ideas for healthy nutritious products at Fox Covert Farm, producing them sustainably making a positive impact for the health of our planet and communities.
