Atlantik Body Care was founded by Kevin Moore and Eoin Breen, both from West Limerick, alongside Dr. Neil Maher, a renowned biochemist and seaweed expert from Ballybunion, Co. Kerry. Together, we set out to create a truly 100% natural skincare line that delivers unique healing and nourishing capabilities - backed by real biochemistry and years of seaweed science.

What inspired you to join the natural health sector?

Our journeys into natural health were deeply personal.

Kevin, having spent years in sport, was always passionate about health and recovery. After sustaining a facial scar he couldn’t heal despite countless products, he met Dr. Neil Maher - who showed him the power of truly natural formulations and advanced biochemistry. Within days, the scar had faded dramatically.

Eoin’s path came from his own health challenges - years of relying on prescribed medicine until he turned to holistic, natural healing, which transformed his life.

Dr. Maher, who has been harvesting seaweed along the Kerry coast for over 40 years and holds a doctorate in biochemistry, has dedicated his life to unlocking nature’s chemistry. Together, our shared vision was simple but powerful: to optimise the potency of nature through biochemistry - because nature has all the answers if you ask the right questions.

Where did you get the idea for your brand?

The brand was born when our three paths converged - united by the belief that skincare should be truly natural, with no synthetic chemicals of any kind. After experiencing first-hand the impact of Dr. Maher’s formulations, we knew we had something extraordinary that had to be shared with the world. Atlantik was founded to take this Irish innovation global and show that natural, when done right, can outperform synthetic.

What makes your brand unique?

Atlantik Body Care is truly 100% natural - as found in nature. Every ingredient we use is in its raw, natural state. We harness deep-level biochemistry to create formulations that work at the molecular level - repairing and mimicking the skin’s own structure.

Our products contain zero synthetic chemicals - no preservatives, emulsifiers, fragrances, or even essential oils - making them suitable for even the most compromised skin, from children to oncology patients.

We hand-harvest our own seaweed and formulate everything ourselves in Listowel, Co. Kerry. Using Dr. Maher’s proprietary Eco-C cold process, we preserve the natural potency of every ingredient while reducing energy emissions by over 80% compared to conventional manufacturing.

Our third-party studies have shown Atlantik products outperform leading synthetic brands in key measures of skin health, wound healing, and barrier repair. We’re also the only brand in Ireland and the UK formulating with Omega-3 DHA - a powerhouse for skin health that’s notoriously difficult to stabilise - alongside Omega-6 GLA and our 7-Ceramide complex, which replicates the skin’s natural lipid matrix.

What are your company’s core values?

Our philosophy is simple: work with nature, not against it.

We use only ingredients as found in their natural state - no synthetics, no shortcuts. We believe that nature holds every answer to skin health; it’s just about asking the right biochemical questions.

We also believe the skin, being a complex organ, requires equally complex formulations - made purely from nature, because only nature provides the intricate balance of nutrients, lipids, and bioactive compounds that the skin truly recognises and can work with.

Sustainability is at the core of everything we do - from ethical seaweed harvesting to our low-emission cold manufacturing, which uses up to 80% less energy than conventional methods. Atlantik Body Care is proof that advanced science and deep respect for nature can coexist beautifully.

How do you support your community?

We’re proud to bring a world-class natural skincare innovation to life from our local Kerry and Limerick roots. We support local events and initiatives, source and hire locally where possible, and create spin-off work for the community through seaweed harvesting and production.

We also work closely with local health professionals - our products are now being prescribed in the Bon Secours Hospital in Tralee due to their proven efficacy - bringing both pride and opportunity back into the community that raised us.

What has been the most rewarding part of your brand’s journey?

Without question, it’s the people. Hearing stories from those who’ve suffered for years with chronic skin conditions - and finally found relief through Atlantik Body Care - makes everything worthwhile. The gratitude, confidence, and joy our customers express when their skin transforms is why we do what we do.

What, in your opinion, makes Irish brands unique?

Irish brands carry an authenticity that can’t be replicated. We’re grounded in nature, community, and craftsmanship.

On the skincare side, Ireland’s Atlantic waters are among the cleanest and most nutrient-rich in the world, allowing us to harvest seaweed of unmatched quality. The Irish west coast alone hosts a remarkable proportion of the world’s seaweed species, despite making up a tiny fraction of global land area - a testament to the richness of our environment.

There’s something magical about Ireland - its purity, its resilience, its respect for nature - and that spirit is what makes Irish brands, and especially Irish natural skincare, truly special.

What is your favourite product from your brand?

Each product has its own purpose and identity, designed to work synergistically as part of a complete skin health system.

While our Serum and Moisturiser are the “hero” products of the range, it’s actually our Cleansers - both face and body - that are the unsung heroes. Our Body Wash is now being prescribed in the Bon Secours Hospital in Tralee due to its healing powers, while our Face Wash is my personal favourite. It’s deeply cleansing yet incredibly gentle, targeting bacteria and fungi linked to acne and rosacea while hydrating and nourishing the skin - a true game changer.

Tell us about something that has shaped your brand.

Our community - both customers and stockists - has shaped Atlantik Body Care every step of the way. Their stories, feedback, and trust have pushed us to grow and innovate. Knowing the real-life difference our products make drives us to keep raising the bar. Every person helped is another reminder of why we started - and how far we can go.

What do you hope to accomplish in the future?

Our goal is to bring our formulations to those who need them most - all around the world. We want to prove that natural, sustainable skincare can outperform synthetic brands while protecting both people and planet.

Every new customer means fewer synthetic chemicals in use, fewer chronic skin issues, and more lives changed for the better. That’s what drives us - not just growth, but meaningful impact.
