Lysine Supplements Available At Evergreen Healthfoods

At Evergreen Healthfoods we understand how difficult it can be to ensure you are receiving all the required nutrients through diet alone. Supplementation can make this process much easier. We stock a wide selection of amino acid supplements from only the very best brands. They are available in a number of forms including tablets, capsules, liquids and powders. Lysine can be supplemented on its own and is also present in a number of other amino acid supplements.

What is Lysine?

Lysine is an essential amino acid meaning the body cannot make it and it must be got from food or supplements. Lysine plays a vital role in keeping your body healthy and working at its best. It is essential for proper growth and is needed to produce collagen which is needed to help keep your skin healthy. Lysine is needed to produce carnitine, a nutrient responsible for helping the body turn fatty acids into energy. This essential amino acid also helps the body absorb calcium. This amino acid can be found in a number of foods including meats, cheese, eggs and lentils. Although most people receive enough lysine from their diet, sometimes deficiency can occur, and supplementation may be necessary. This is particularly common in athletes, vegans and burn patients. Symptoms of a lack of lysine include fatigue, nausea, loss of appetite, anaemia and slow growth.
