Demeter has been the trademark for products from certified biodynamic production, a method of organic, holistic farming originally developed by Austrian philosopher Rudolf Steiner.

Biodynamic plants are grown in the ground in living soil, which provides a quality of health and nutrition not possible with chemical fertilizers or hydroponic growing – it adds vitality to the plant, soil or livestock. Biodynamic farms aspire to generate their own fertility through composting, integrating animals, cover cropping, and crop rotation.

This Puttanesca pasta sauce is produced directly on a farm in Italy since 1990, using freshly harvested 100% Demeter sun-ripened tomatoes.
