Vegan and Vegetarian Approved from The Vegetarian Society
The Vegetarian Society inspires and supports people in making the shift to vegetarian and vegan diets and lifestyles. As well as help, advice and community classes, they have a set of Vegetarian Society Approved trademarks to help make staying away from animal products a easier.
There are two Vegetarian Society Approved trademarks – one for vegetarian products and one for vegan products. The vegetarian trademark has been going since 1986, and the vegan one since 2017.
All product ingredients are independently checked, so when you see these vegetarian or vegan trademarks on a product, you know you can trust it is vegetarian or vegan.
Any product displaying the Vegetarian Society Approved vegetarian trademark has met these criteria:
- Contains no ingredient made from animal body parts
- Only free-range eggs are used
- Measures in place to avoid cross-contamination during production
- GMO-free
- No animal testing carried out or commissioned
Any product displaying the Vegetarian Society Approved vegan trademark has met these criteria:
- Contains no animal-derived ingredients
- Measures in place to avoid cross-contamination during production
- GMO-free
- No animal testing carried out or commissioned
