Brown lentils are the most popular type of lentil at Evergreen. These small lentils have a mild earthy flavour and can range in colour from a light khaki brown to a dark black. Like all legumes, they are a rich source of fibre which is essential for the digestive system. They are also an excellent source of protein which is particularly important in vegan and vegetarian diets. As well as this they are a good source of potassium, zinc, magnesium and vitamin B6. Because this lentil retains its shape after cooking, it is ideal for dishes such as warm salads, casseroles and stuffing. This is a certified organic product with no additives or preservatives.
