In the first in our series ‘Evergreen: Behind The Brand’, we sat down (virtually!) with Oxmantown Skincare founder Amy Cahill. Oxmantown is the newest skincare brand to hit the Evergreen shelves and we are so excited to tell you all about it!
Oxmantown Skincare
Introduce Yourself
Hi, I’m Amy Cahill, owner of Oxmantown Skincare, a natural skincare company based in Dublin.
What inspired you to join the natural health sector?
I’ve travelled worldwide studying aromatherapy, reflexology, yoga Ayurveda and beauty therapy which inspired me towards the natural health sector.
Where did you get the idea for your brand?
I ran my own skincare clinic for years and was dealing with many clients with different skin issues and concerns that were not being solved with their regular skincare. I have a background in aromatherapy so I began formulating skin care products from my kitchen table for my clients. They began to see improvements in their skin. My clientele based grew as did the demand for the products and so Oxmantown Skincare was born.
What makes your brand unique?
We handcraft all our products in small batches using natural, organic and botanical ingredients. As we make all the products in house, we have complete control of the product and ingredient sourcing. We also only use the finest cold pressed oils and active botanicals in the range.
What are your company’s core values?
We are cruelty free, we don’t test on animals and we strive to be as sustainable as we can. We also pride ourselves on being a small independent company in a landscape dominated by big players.
How do you support your community?
Where possible, we buy our ingredients as locally as possible. We are also currently working on a yet-to-be announced partnership with a progressive women’s led organisation.
What has been the most rewarding part of your brand’s journey?
Seeing the brand grow and evolve from starting off at the kitchen table to being stocked in several shops nationwide is pretty rewarding. Another highlight was winning ‘Best Product Award’ from The Local Enterprise Office & The Design Craft Council of Ireland.
What is your favourite product from your brand?
The No.6 Rosehip & Neroli Regenerating Facial Oil is a favourite of mine, as with customers. It’s a superfood for the skin, formulated with Rosehip, Camellia, Neroli, Frankincense, Sea Buckthorn and Vitamin E, it’s basically food for your skin. It works to leave the skin healthy and glowing.
Tell us about something that has shaped your brand?
The reality of climate change and the impact of our modern lifestyles on the planet has definitely made us want to do better. We carefully create and design each formula with sustainability as a core factor.
What do you hope to accomplish in the future?
Next year will see us go completely Vegan. At the moment we use beeswax in our balms which will be replaced by a vegan wax. Of course, sustainability is very important to us, reducing our carbon footprint. We are not perfect but little by little we are getting there.
